A proposal for a 67-storey mixed-use tower in Surrey’s city centre neighbourhood would be the largest yet in the fast-growing municipality. A public hearing on the project in the 10200-block of King George Boulevard was held on Monday night and Surrey council gave it the go-ahead.
The developer, Aimforce Surrey Centre 1 Ltd., asked to have the site rezoned from commercial to a comprehensive development zone, allowing for a mixed-use building that includes seven storeys of commercial and office space totalling 19,422 square metres, eight storeys of residences on a podium and a tower soaring 67 storeys into the sky with 746 residential units.
The development would be the highest yet in Surrey and five storeys taller than Vancouver’s Shangri-la, currently the tallest in that city.
